Animal Control Ordinance is Enforced in Simonton

In Simonton, we love our pets.  Pets bring us companionship and in some cases, security.  If you are an animal lover, we’re sure that you want your pets to be safe and happy.  That’s why we want you to know about Simonton’s Animal Control Ordinance.

Simonton has an animal control ordinance that is intended to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the entire community.  This ordinance can protect both pets and your neighbors.  Responsible pet owners don’t want their pets to harm anyone in their community.  By the same token, your neighbors have an expectation of safe movement on their property and within our community.

The Animal Control Ordinance protects the public from wandering, stray, menacing, dangerous, or barking animals.  Although some people consider Simonton to be “the country”, we do have a number of ordinances which provide for heightened public safety within the city limits.  Our animal control ordinance protects residents from being attacked, menaced, or injured by a stray animal when they are on their own property or on a city right of way.

What does this mean to all animal owners in Simonton?

If you have an animal, it is your responsibility to control it on your own property.  Anytime your animal is not on your property, or under your direct control – such as with a leash, it is subject to being trapped, impounded, and taken to Fort Bend Animal Control.  At the same time, the owner of the animal is subject to significant penalties for violation of the ordinance.

If you are a pet owner, we encourage you be a responsible pet owner and to get to know Simonton’s Animal Control Ordinance.
